Avara announces major investment in British food production

Investment of more than £100m over three years will upgrade facilities, introduce next-generation technology and support long-term growth.

We have announced plans to invest more than £100m over the next three years to strengthen our UK poultry operations, upgrade facilities and introduce next-generation technology across our supply chain.

The investment programme will strengthen our poultry model by creating a more efficient, resilient and future-fit production network. This year, we plan to invest more than £40m in technology and facilities to improve productivity, provide sustainable job opportunities in UK manufacturing and support long-term Retail and Food Service growth.

Commenting on the plan Chris Hall Avara CEO said, “This ambitious UK investment programme ensures Avara builds on its existing position as a strong and sustainable partner to our customers supplying the affordable locally sourced poultry, produced to high standards, that British consumers demand.”

The investment includes significant upgrades across our key sites in the company’s chicken supply chain. Planned investment includes next-generation cutting capability, and new automation and to create a more efficient and resilience food supply chain.

Hall added: “This is a major investment in the future of our business and in the resilience of the UK poultry supply chain that reflects confidence in our people, our facilities and the long-term future of UK poultry production.”

Over the last three years we have completed a comprehensive restructuring of our business delivering improved financial performance. This investment plan meets the growing consumer demand for affordable, locally sourced poultry produced to high standards, while creating a stronger and more sustainable platform for the future.”
