FareShare support

Avara Foods is proud to work in partnership with FareShare

We’re conscious of our influence as large business and make every effort to ensure we make a positive impact wherever possible. We recognise our role local communities during these uncertain times and take our responsibilities seriously. As a food producer, creating healthy products high in protein, we understand our single biggest contribution to the ongoing situation is ensuring quality foods remain available to the public.

The public is made up of more than just supermarket consumers – we’ve long been a supporter of FareShare, the charity aimed at relieving food poverty in the UK through food distribution programmes. The media continues to cover the strain food banks are experiencing and to help address this we’ve increased our supply to food charity FareShare to help those most in need.

We’ve increased our weekly supply from our Hereford and Telford sites to FareShare depots in the West Midlands and Wales with a dependable supply of fresh chicken, free of charge. This is not surplus or waste product, but a regular commitment that FareShare then distributes amongst its charity members. We have now increased our supply by 1000kg of drumsticks, bringing the weekly amount to 2.7 tonnes of fresh British chicken every week.

For many charities, providing food is an essential form of support and opens up access to a wider range of services for those in need. A regular supply of our chicken also means that charities can plan their meals more effectively, around reliable deliveries of fresh, healthy protein.

Our contributions are redistributed to a network of over 200 charities and community groups, including schools, foodbanks and homeless shelters, and provide estimated 2,381 meals a week for people in need.
