Avara farmer named McDonald's Farmer of the Year

Mark Green, an Avara farmer supplying chicken and potatoes to McDonalds has been named their Outstanding Farmer of the Year.

Mark Green, an Avara farmer supplying chicken and potatoes to McDonalds has been named their Outstanding Farmer of the Year. McDonalds selected Mark as their winner at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show, from a shortlist of three that also included beef and dairy farmers.

Mark has been supplying McDonalds for around 18 years, growing potatoes for their famous fries and, more recently, raising chicken for the UK menu. Mark’s award comes off the back of significant investment on his farm, including renewable energies and extensive underfloor heating, to provide both environmental efficiency and an environment in which his chickens can thrive. McDonald’s also recognised Mark’s commitment to his local community, running two local pubs that are important facilities for locals and visitors.

Congratulations also go to Will Watkins who was awarded the Poultry Category of the Year Award for McDonalds.
